Certified Nurse Midwives – Hospital

Certified Nurse Midwives Offering Hospital Birth

Nurse-Midwives are registered nurses with advanced training in midwifery and women’s health care. Many have Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Nurse-Midwifery.  With a nurse-midwife as your care provider, you are more likely to have a a mother and baby centered birth experience, with less medical intervention, and a lower rate of cesarean section than if you deliver with an obstetrician in a hospital setting. If you have Medi-Cal, and would would like a homebirth or birth center delivery,  this option is not available to you in Los Angeles County, as Medi-Cal does not cover homebirth midwives and there are few freestanding birth centers in the region which take Medi-Cal. The best option you have is to go to one of the hospitals in Los Angeles County which take Medi-Cal and have Nurse-Midwives on staff.
