Purpose of The Conference
To galvanize the Los Angeles perinatal community to harmoniously work together to create multidisciplinary, mother- and baby -centered care teams to provide evidence-based, holistic maternity care based on the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative.
Physicians, Midwives, Doulas, Nurses, Childbirth Educators, Academics, Researchers, Funders, Public Health Professionals, Community Perinatal Health Workers and more.
Continuing Education Units
CMAs are pending for physicians and CEUs are pending for CNMs, RNs, CHESs and Childbirth Educators and Doulas.
About the Keynote Speaker
Robbie Davis-Floyd, Ph.D. is a Cultural and Medical Anthropologist who has spent over 20 years researching issues in the anthropology of reproduction, focusing mostly on childbirth, obstetrics and midwifery. She is the author and editor of several scholarly articles and books including Birth as An American Rite of Passage, Mainstreaming Midwives, Childbirth and Authoritative Knowledge: Cross Cultural Perspectives, and others. She is Senior Research Fellow, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Texas, Austin.
